"What Do You Want for Christmas?"

Really, I have no idea. Not a clue. I don't know what to tell L, or either set of parents, or my grandparents. You'd think that if you never buy anything for yourself over the year that you can come up with ideas for others by the end of it. Nope. Still nothing.

Part of this could be because I don't shop. I've heard some women say that they enjoyed shopping more once the kiddos came along - it acts as an outlet. To me, it's the same. I didn't enjoy shopping before, and now with a kiddo, it's even more burdensome. So maybe I don't want anything because I don't know what's out there? And am I the only female who doesn't like shopping?

Sigh. I should probably come up with something. Any ideas?

money to save up for something that you've always wanted or needed but that you know is too expensive? I just want to save up for a super nice Nikon camera and a steam cleaner (camera=want, steam cleaner=NEED). Or you could always ask for things like new bath towels, a new comforter, new pots and pans....basic stuff that always eventually needs to be replaced?

I was having the same problem (although for my birthday - we asked our families to give donations to blood water mission and international justice mission on our behalf this year). . . I finally realized that there were some green items that I wanted.

There's the Kiehl's Aloe Vera Body Wash, various other items, like glass storage containers and essential oils. . . I don't know if that's helpful at all, but there's my suggestion!

I know what you mean. This year I definitely had no idea what to ask for--I think part of it is being pregnant, and not wanting clothes or anything like that (which is what I usually ask for). But I ended up asking for some books, some gift certificates, and some knitting stuff. :)

Growing up my parents used our main gift each year to purchase something in each of our names for those less fortunate, or for a cause overseas.
One year 'I Gave' (aka: my parents in my name) a prosthetic limb for 'limbs of hope' in Sierre Leon.
When my daughter was born one of the most meaningul gifts given was a certificate saying that in celebration of her life 5 chicks were purchased in her name for a family in Africa.

Some ideas are:
Sierra Leone

Birthing:~Provide a mattress - $100
You can help the women of Sierra Leone by providing mattresses for a recently constructed birthing hut.

Sierra Leone; Kakissy Village ~Annual School Fees for one child - $30.

each4life-swaziland 1; Swaziland
HIV Prevention - $25.00

There are many many options.
We choose to ututlize the Christmas gift catalogues through
World Hope Canada, Compassion Canada, International Justice Mission Canada, and World Vision Canada -all of which have US offices.

There are several organizations you can choose from; from building wells for water purification to aiding in the protection and freedom of children vicitimized by child traffficking, to providing animals for community farming.....

I hope this helps give you some really great options to share with your family when asked the question "What do you want for Chrismtas?".

Merry Christmas!
